Description Iain Buchanan 2010-06-21 01:02:50 UTC
Evolution crashes when selecting mail with meeting request attachment, as also seen here:
http://osdir.com/ml/debian-bugs-dist/2010-06/msg01562.html

I've just recompiled with the patch on that page, bug fixed. I'll provide a backtrace after I undo the patch and re-install.

patch to fix itip-formatter segfault when reading meeting requests

This is the debian patch which was taken from upstream git. It applies cleanly.

add patch to ebuild

This is how I added the patch in the ebuild.

If I read correctly it might be included in 2.30.2. Not sure how far away this is for Gentoo.

thanks :)

To confirm it will be fixed with 2.30.2 would be nice to find exact commit at http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution
Comment 4 Iain Buchanan 2010-06-21 23:19:58 UTC
sheesh that was convoluted... what an inadequate search...

Anyway here it is:
http://git.gnome.org/browse/evolution/diff/plugins/itip-formatter/itip-formatter.c?id=51e5ae5524c778309800530e1e25fdf74f2226da
Comment 5 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-06-22 11:52:10 UTC
Looks that it was only applied to "master" and not "gnome-2.30" branch (and then, 2.30.2 should also be affected), but also looks strange to me that camel API changed during 2.30 cycle :-|
Comment 6 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-06-23 15:06:41 UTC
2.30.2 was pushed some time ago, please test how does it work with (also updated) evolution-data-server
Comment 7 Iain Buchanan 2010-06-24 04:13:50 UTC
Hmm, 100% cpu usage when viewing mail with meeting, with evo and e-d-s 2.30.2...

let me finish building world, check the elogs, etc. & get back to you.

bug buddy crash details

maybe it was bug-buddy before, but this time it crashes straight away when viewing the message. Bug buddy trace attached.

:)
Comment 9 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-06-24 10:16:24 UTC
This was fixed just yesterday in gnome-2.30 branch:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=619959#c13
Comment 10 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2010-06-24 10:24:53 UTC
But I would prefer to wait some days before releasing a -r1 with that patch, since evolution take really a lot of time to compile on some machines (like mine ;-)) and would be better to try to include more fixes that could be committed to gnome-2.30 branch in the next days
Comment 11 Iain Buchanan 2010-06-25 13:43:40 UTC
Sure.

FYI same patch fixes 2.30.2 (just got around to trying it). based on there being no cc's to this bug and no duplicates, I guess I'm the only one bugged by it, and I have a workaround.

thanks :)
