Description Arun Raghavan (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-20 14:45:31 UTC
Going forward, gobject-introspection is going to be a core part of the GNOME platform. We are pushing a number of packages with gobject-introspction, and these will become mandatory for GNOME 3.0 soon enough. For example, there is a proposed GNOME 3.0 goal to replace pygtk with introspected pygi GTK+ bindings. GNOME Shell is also going to heavily depend on gobject-introspection.

It would be nice to do this early and get the kinks out of the way by the time GNOME 3.0 is out, so please keyword this package.

While it is possible for an arch to opt out of supporting g-i by USE-masking introspection, this would mean not being able to support GNOME 3.0.
