Description Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-11 15:21:31 UTC
Arch teams, please, stabilize net-analyzer/argus-3.0.8, net-analyzer/argus-clients-3.0.8. Thank you in advance.

You're probably talking about 3.0.3.8, right?

Also, I've got a problem with the init script. It runs /usr/sbin/argus -d without the possibility to pass other options, this means that it'll always try to listen on eth0. Some option to change the interface (argus -i <if>) would be nice.
Comment 2 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-28 06:39:25 UTC
Christoph, yup, I've changed version. And for -i option... I think it's better to keep conf.d for gentoo-specific configuration. To set interface you just need to edit argus.conf. If you want I accept patch to handle gentoo-specific way to handle interfaces with argus.eth0 being symlink and argus run on eth0.
Comment 3 Christoph Mende (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-28 23:09:20 UTC
ah yes, sorry, missed the option in argus.conf
I can't get it to work here though:
 * Service argus starting
argus[5454]: 29 Jun 10 01:07:58.895486 started                                                                  [ !! ]
 * ERROR: argus failed to start

no idea how to debug either because it seems to work when running without -d:
~ # argus
argus[29159]: 29 Jun 10 01:09:21.294395 ArgusGetInterfaceStatus: interface eth0 is up

Christoph, could you check that ARGUS_DAEMON value is not set in configuration file?
Comment 5 Christoph Mende (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-06-29 07:39:34 UTC
#ARGUS_DAEMON=no
the only thing I changed from the default config is ARGUS_INTERFACE
