It seems - the maintainer changed - there's a tag and auto-tarball (a release?) for 3.08 already http://bitbucket.org/rivanvx/beamer/get/version-3-08.tar.bz2
homepage updated, thanks i'd prefer to see it officially on ctan and/or with a link on the webpage before bumping to 3.08

It seems like 3.09 was released a few weeks ago as well and the latest zip archive available on CTAN is 3.09. However, the upstream site still only has tagged archive checkouts which work but the archive and directory names aren't the standard defaults which is a little annoying. I filed an upstream issue [1] asking for versioned release archives with standard name formatting. [1] http://bitbucket.org/rivanvx/beamer/issue/46/
3.10 has now been released and the upstream maintainer has started to add release tarballs in the uploaded files section as I requested.
Fixed this already with a different bug. :)
