It seems that the linux-headers packages install in different slots, 2.4.19 for the 2.4.19 version and 0 for the 2.4.20 version. However both the packages install (the same) files in /usr/include/asm and /usr/include/linux, thereby overwriting each other. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Have the linux-headers-2.4.19-r1 installed. 2.Upgrade to linux-headers-2.4.20 Actual Results: Both packages were installed, and the linux-headers-2.4.20 overwrote the files of linux-headers-2.4.19-r1 Expected Results: Unmerged the linux-headers-2.4.19-r1, and installed the linux-headers-2.4.20 hjernemadsen linux-headers # emerge --info Portage 2.0.49-r15 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.2-r8, 2.6.0-test6) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.0-test6 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) Processor Gentoo Base System version 1.4.3.11 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-z combreloc -mcpu=athlon-tbird -march=athlon-tbird -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /var/qmail/control /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-z combreloc -mcpu=athlon-tbird -march=athlon-tbird -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs sandbox ccache fixpackages" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp://gentoo.linux.no/pub/gentoo/ ftp://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo/ http://gentoo.linux.no/ http://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo/ http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 oss apm avi crypt cups foomaticdb gif jpeg libg++ mad mikmod mpeg ncurses pdflib png quicktime spell truetype xml2 xv zlib gtkhtml gdbm berkdb slang readline arts tetex aalib bonobo svga ggi tcltk java guile sdl gpm tcpd pam libwww ssl perl python esd imlib oggvorbis gtk qt kde motif opengl mozilla cdr X gtk2 gnome alsa dvd encode xmms fbcon directfb matrox -nls gstreamer video_cards_matrox video_cards_radeon"
Kumba, I hear you were going to do this when you were going to mark linux-headers-2.4.21 as stable. If so, please reassign bug the bug to yourself, otherwise just tell me that you're OK with me changing the SLOTs.
plasmaroo: Got no problems with you changing slots on 2.4.19. This bug is Also a semi-dupe of Bug #26460, so I'm marking it as such. 26460 also has an attachment to help clean out the slotted linux-headers from all of this.
