I tried emerging sys-libs/libcap(-2.19) first, and then retried net-fs/nfs-utils(-1.2.2) and it emerged fine. Maybe sys-libs/libcap should be defined as a prerequisite in the ebuild?
thanasis' suggestion to emerge libcap-2.19 worked for me. emerged nfs-utils-1.2.2 successfully immediately after.
ah, good the bug already exsisted.. same solution here.. this ebuild should def. depend on libcap..

Same problem here. Emerging libcap by hand solved the problem. Please add it as a prerequisite.
*** Bug 315929 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
and this is why the simple answer is not always the correct one nfs-utils-1.2.2-r1 has a proper USE=caps conditional
