kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves-4.4.1 links against libslp.so.1 from net-libs/openslp Problem discovered during emerge --depclean, when i got this message: * In order to avoid breakage of link level dependencies, one or more * packages will not be removed. This can be solved by rebuilding the * packages that pulled them in. * * net-libs/openslp-1.2.1-r1 pulled in by: * kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves-4.4.1 needs libslp.so.1 * I tried to rebuild kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves, but the problem persisted. cmake output specifically mentions using OpenSLP in its configuration summary. kde-base/kdebase-kioslaves ebuild has no such dependency nor USE flag. please paste the output of scanelf -n `equery files kdebase-kioslaves|grep '.so$'`|grep slp Afterwards, if you're brave you could try to remove openslp (note: quickpkg is your friend) and then re-emerge kdelibs and kdebase-kioslaves. Not sure if this helps, but I've got KDE441 running here without openslp...
Fixed in 4.4.1-r1, thanks for reporting. You could have avoided this bug if you had --as-needed in LDFLAGS - as it removes unnecessary link dependencies. (like in this case - OpenSLP support is disabled, but upstream disabled it only partially)
