Works fine here on ~amd64. It could be a swig problem, since __init__.py is swig generated, but I tried with swig-1.3.36 which is probably the one you have installed on x86 and it worked fine as well. Could you try with swig-1.3.40?

Indeed, the problem is not present with >=swig-1.3.38, but 1.3.36 fails.
I asked for stabilization of a newer version of swig in bug 307297
Just ran into that issue. :-/ Well, would it make sense for the pyfltk ebuild to DEPEND on >=swig-1.3.38 then? Florian
