libpng-1.4.x has internal changes which cause many packages to fail when being compiled against the new 1.4.x branch of libpng.

Many fixes are quite trivial. Just have a look at the textfile in URL describing the most common changes in libpng.

Several people have built full reverse depend and rdepend list of libpng long by now... was there any point in reopening this? 

I'm already looking for bugs to stabilize so we can get libpng 1.4 stabilized in 30 days. So way past this.
