Juergen please attach the complete build.log

Installed OK here on Perl 5.10.1

Logs are not needed:

| /usr/bin/perl5.8.8 /usr/lib64/perl5/5.8.8/ExtUtils/xsubpp ....

Here it probably should use the xsubpp from EU::ParseXS which is not installed.
I think it's a problem in EU::ParseXS.

The only difference I can see is between Perl versions;

Perl 5.8.8 box (fails)
[ebuild R ] dev-lang/perl-5.8.8-r8 USE="berkdb doc gdbm -build
-debug -ithreads -perlsuid" 0 kB [0]
[ebuild R ] perl-core/ExtUtils-ParseXS-2.22.02 0 kB [0]
[ebuild R ] dev-perl/ExtUtils-XSpp-0.08 USE="-test" 0 kB [0]
[ebuild N ] dev-perl/wxperl-0.97-r1 0 kB [1]

xsubpp -v
xsubpp version 1.9508

Perl 5.10.1 box (ok)
[ebuild R ] dev-lang/perl-5.10.1 USE="berkdb gdbm -build -debug
-doc -ithreads" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] perl-core/ExtUtils-ParseXS-2.22.02 0 kB
[ebuild R ] dev-perl/ExtUtils-XSpp-0.08 USE="-test" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] dev-perl/wxperl-0.97 0 kB

xsubpp -v
xsubpp version 2.2202

Should not the the xsubpp versions be the same.

Is there a way to change xsubpp/ExtUtils::ParseXS found by shell/perl
Comment 4 David Abbott (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-02-11 16:20:28 UTC
0.94 installs on 5.8.8

[ebuild R ] dev-lang/perl-5.8.8-r8 USE="berkdb doc gdbm -build -debug -ithreads -perlsuid" 0 kB
[ebuild R ] dev-perl/wxperl-0.94 0 kB
Comment 5 Torsten Veller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-02-11 17:06:26 UTC
Upgrade to ExtUtils-ParseXS-2.22.02-r1 should fix it for now.
It installs ExtUtils/xsubpp too.

nice, that fixed it :)
Comment 7 Torsten Veller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-02-12 07:09:41 UTC
Fixed in ExtUtils-ParseXS-2.22.03

|2.2203 - Thu Feb 11 14:00:51 EST 2010
|
| Bug fixes:
|
| - Build.PL was not including ExtUtils/xsubpp for installation. Fixed
| by subclassing M::B::find_pm_files to include it [David Golden]
