xbmc fails to configure on up to date ~x86 system: checking for main in -lsmbclient... no configure: error: Could not find a required library. Please see the README for your platform. Currently, xbmc-9.11 has a dependency on net-fs/samba. The ~x86 net-fs/samba ebuild is a meta package that only installs net-fs/samba-libs (if no USE flags are enabled). This is insufficient as libsmbclient does not get installed. Instead of depending on net-fs/samba, xbmc should depend on net-fs/samba-libs[smbclient]. Note: I'm guessing xbmc builds fine with the stable net-fs/samba ebuild. Reproducible: Always
vapier: you are assigned the other xbmc bugs -> hence the CC
ive only required the USE flag on newer versions of samba http://sources.gentoo.org/media-tv/xbmc/xbmc-9.11.ebuild?r1=1.2&r2=1.3 http://sources.gentoo.org/media-tv/xbmc/xbmc-9999.ebuild?r1=1.45&r2=1.46
