irrlicht 1.6 is available since Sep-30-2009 A tarball with ebuild, patches and Manifest follows. I have tested this ebuild on amd64 platform. The new patches allow for the demo programs to be compiled without further tweaking. Even the script "buildAllExamples.sh" does work now. The Code::Blocks Workspace and project files do not work (yet) out of the box. I will submit a patch for them once I have finished updating those. But currently my spare time is very limited, so I do not expect to be able to finish them until next week.

No, you never include the Manifest file. That file is generated.
irrlicht-1.6.1 is in portage.
Just an FYI. irrlicht-1.6.1-fix-directory.patch has been removed from the tree since its way too big and triggers the repoman file.size.fatal error, and wasn't used by the ebuild. It looks like it only fixes documentation anyway. If you want it actually patched, put it on the mirror. Thanks
