Description Dennis Schridde 2010-01-06 21:48:21 UTC
After updating from sys-apps/smartmontools-5.38-r1 to sys-apps/smartmontools-5.39 smartd will not recognize any of my SATA drives anymore. The config has not been changed during or after that update.

# cat /etc/smartd.conf
[...]
DEVICESCAN -a -d sat
# smartd -d
smartd 5.39 2009-12-09 r2995 [x86_64-pc-linux-gnu] (local build)

Opened configuration file /etc/smartd.conf
Configuration file /etc/smartd.conf was parsed, found DEVICESCAN, scanning devices
In the system's table of devices NO devices found to scan
Unable to monitor any SMART enabled devices. Try debug (-d) option. Exiting...

Reproducible: Always

should be fixed with 5.39.1
