Description Dion Moult (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-01-01 15:26:49 UTC
Trying to connect to an unsecured network I always would receive timeouts saying "Failed to obtain IP" with wicd (ath9k wireless) and to fix it I had to add 'need hal' and 'need dbus' to /etc/init.d/wicd. This should be there by default, see the URL for more detail.

For those that don't use hal/dbus, this 'need' rule would be ignored, right?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install wicd when using hal/dbus
2. Try to connect

Actual Results:
Timeout when trying to obtain IP address.

Expected Results:
Connected.

Comment 1 Wormo (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-01-01 21:23:39 UTC
Thanks for the suggestion. Even better would be 'after' dbus and hal, since they are optional but ought to be started earlier if present.

Assigning to maintainer.
