This needs a backtrace using gdb.
Compile glib, mowgli, alsa-lib, audacious & audacious-plugins using FEATURES="nostrip" and insert -g2 into CFLAGS. then run audacious through gdb, make it freeze then type bt full.
A bug like this is best reported upstream, please see the URL field for the JIRA tracker that you should be using.
Comment 2 Jens Grasnick 2009-12-27 14:48:55 UTC
Ok, i tried it but there is no backtrace available. The only info it spits out was:

> PANIC: handle_group_exit: 9205 leader 9059
> PANIC: handle_group_exit: 9204 leader 9059
> PANIC: handle_group_exit: 9063 leader 9059
> PANIC: handle_group_exit: 9060 leader 9059
> During startup program terminated with signal SIGKILL, Killed.

Thats it.

audacious-2.2-seektozerofix.patch

Obtained from http://hg.atheme.org/audacious/audacious/rev/15b444e35160

A fix has been issued upstream:

http://jira.atheme.org/browse/AUD-123

However, since Audacious-2.2 is the most recent stable version in portage, I have decided to repost the patch here. It fixed the problem for me.
Comment 4 Tony Vroon (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-22 08:58:09 UTC
Arches, please test and mark stable:
media-sound/audacious-2.4.0
media-plugins/audacious-plugins-2.4.0

Target keywords: alpha amd64 hppa ppc ppc64 sparc x86
Comment 5 Tobias Klausmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-09-26 16:44:09 UTC
Stable on alpha.
Comment 6 Jeremy Murphy 2010-09-30 12:31:10 UTC
Hmmm, I thought I could modify bugs in this respect as an AT, but evidently not.

Please add #339240 as a blocker, thanks.

You need to pass the first quiz and then you are assigned additional rights.
Comment 8 David Abbott (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-10-09 14:37:24 UTC
Tested on x86 all good here;

=media-sound/audacious-2.4.0
=media-plugins/audacious-plugins-2.4.0

During the test media-plugins/audacious-plugins was needed, its good to go also.
Comment 9 blain 'Doc' Anderson 2010-10-13 14:14:48 UTC
amd64 tested pause and plugins for 3 days, paused for seconds, minutes and hours. have closed and reopened and it was at and ready to start the song i ended mid play and the plugins worked EXCEPT for rock and roll. it worked but not all the time. maybe a new bug, maybe my system
i DO NOT use alsa. i assign each of 2 sound cards to a specific job

I stabled for x86 because it works for me and 2.2 seems to have severe problems. We should get the arches into Bug #326683 asap! Thanks David.
Comment 13 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2010-11-09 19:52:18 UTC
Stable for HPPA.
Comment 14 Enrique Domínguez 2010-11-14 19:45:23 UTC
On my system, audacious could waste up to 60% cpu when switch between songs, I think this happens on update a current stable version 2.4.0

PPC/Sparc: The 2.2 ebuild remains in the tree for you with just your stable keywords on it. Please kill it off once you've stabled. Thank you!

I'm tempted to add bug 295807 and bug 348837 as blockers
- former is over a year old, fix for both is trivial and both still apply
to 2.4.3 (added to the tree today).

> I'm tempted to add bug 295807 and bug 348837 as blockers

It wouldn't help you, only PPC is still on this bug. If you want to assist, post patches to the bug in question & verify that no arch keywording is required on the dependencies (first thing a *lot* of reporters overlook).
If it is, take care of that first.

Now, first & last time: This is a stable request, not a discussion forum. It has run its course and one arch is left. It will be closed very shortly. Your comment does not belong.
