Description brysonborg 2002-01-23 19:27:25 UTC
this is on a fresh install of 1.0rc6-r14 after building the core system.

trying to build xfree86 4.2.0 fails with multiple errors.

first, it can't find xmkmf when building glxinfo

after i copy xmkmf and imake from the build tree to /usr/X11R6/bin (which, BTW,
i've already put in $PATH), it can't find xmkmf nor imake until i symlink to
/usr/bin

it can't build glxinfo since it can't link /usr/X11R6/lib/libGLU.a. on my
redhat machine, libGLU.a belongs to Mesa. i've copied it over to the gentoo
machine and i'm trying to rebuild.

at this point, i've already done a "make install" from the xfree build directory
to see if perhaps it would (e)build (because i want to satisfy dependencies) if
the x development stuff was in place, but at this point building xfree86 4.2.0
seems to depend on 1) already having x in place and 2) having mesa in place.

This is still an old -r2 revision ... PLEASE use 'emerge rsync' more ;-)

CVS and RSYNC is up and running .. is fixed in later releases.
