Description Timo Gurr (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-25 13:46:28 UTC
x11-libs/libX11-1.3.2 fails to configure complaining about missing dependencies

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. [ebuild R ] x11-libs/libX11-1.3.2 USE="ipv6 -debug -doc% -test -xcb" 0 kB
2. emerge libX11 --oneshot
3. fails complaining about missing dependencies
Actual Results:
Actual configure error:

checking if /usr/bin/cpp requires -traditional... yes
checking perl... (from --with-perl) no
checking whether to use XCB... (cached) no
checking for x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-pkg-config... no
checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for XPROTO... yes
checking for XDMCP... yes
checking for XdmcpWrap in -lXdmcp... yes
checking for XdmcpWrap in -lXdmcp... (cached) yes
checking for X11... configure: error: Package requirements (xextproto xtrans xau xcmiscproto bigreqsproto) were not met:

No package 'xcmiscproto' found
No package 'bigreqsproto' found

From the ebuild:
	xcb? (
		x11-proto/bigreqsproto
		x11-proto/xcmiscproto
	)

Expected Results:
Looks like the two dependencies are also needed when build with USE="-xcb".

Does libX11 build if you install them manually?

Thanks

Yep it did, perhaps a small mistake in the ebuild? A quick lookup on the exherbo exheres for [1]libX11 shows:

  19 !xcb? (
  20 x11-proto/bigreqsproto
  21 x11-proto/xcmiscproto
  22 )

Comment 3 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-28 12:18:05 UTC
Yeah, that should have been !xcb all along. Fixed in portage without a revbump and in th overlay.

Thanks
