Bumping the version works fine for me so far on x86. Only problem with above ebuild is the sources are not available on the mirrors. Feel free to use my server to fetch the sources for your local overlay: SRC_URI="http://rfnx.com/gentoo/${P}.tar.bz2"
Maybe ardour-2.8.4 should be made fetch-restricted, so users would have to download the sources from the website and pay whatever they want for it?
Created attachment 218076 [details] ardour-2.8.6.ebuild with restrict Ardour 2.8.6 released at 24.1.2010 (2.8.5 @ 22.1.2010). Here's ebuild with fetch/mirror restriction and instructions for user about that. libsndfile was removed from internal distribution at 2.8.3, noted that on dependencies and added version-requirement for libsndfile (which was mentioned in 2.8.3 news'). Compiles and runs. I'd prefer for pkg_nofetch-message sanity-checking.
ardour 2.8.7 has been released on 03.02.2010 maybe the ardour team could be contacted to negociate with them an agreement on having the ardour releases available on the gentoo mirrors, and we could add a message to the user at the end of the installation asking him to contribute to the project ?
LICENSE is GPL-2 and it can be downloaded and uploaded to mirrors without any special permission.
Yes you are right, so fetch-restriction is useless here, am I wrong ?
