I am using the new network script in openrc-0.5.2. It allows configuration of wireless settings using iwconfig but recommends using wpa_supplicant. I found that wpa_supplicant does not provide an init script, which it needs to do to be used with the network script. openrc upstream has an init.d script for wpa_supplicant in their git repository, but it is not installed automatically since it needs to be modified by each distribution. I have modified it to work correctly here, and I am attaching the modified script to this bug. Is this something we could officially include in our wpa_supplicant installation?
Created attachment 210457 [details] wpa_supplicant init.d script for wpa_supplicant.
This script should not be added to any runlevels unless the user is using the new network scripts. The old style network scripts handle this in the modules, per interface.
Created attachment 210480 [details] wpa_supplicant.confd /etc/conf.d file for my wpa_supplicant init script.
Created attachment 210481 [details] wpa_supplicant.confd Here is an updated version of the wpa_supplicant file for /etc/conf.d.
Fixing the assignee/cc. Can someone please look into adding this? Thanks, William
Fixed, 0.6.9 now installs the conf.d and init.d files. Not bumped to 0.6.9, since we are not officially supporting the new network scripts yet, so it won't be of use for alot of people yet. If so - reemerge 0.6.9 :-)
