Description Arfrever Frehtes Taifersar Arahesis (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-04 21:08:33 UTC
Stabilize dev-python/setuptools-0.6.6.

dev-python/setuptools-0.6.8 is arleady in the tree and majority of users, who accept unstable keywords, will be testing dev-python/setuptools-0.6.8 instead of dev-python/setuptools-0.6.6, so it's reasonable to stabilize dev-python/setuptools-0.6.6 now.

Some arches just did 0.6.4, can we just skip 0.6.6 if there is no imminent reason (like some really common bug)?

Please don't skip 0.6.6. Distribute has frequent releases, so it's normal that some architectures have just stabilized ${older_version}.

It imposes a lot of work do stable all those frequent releases. Have a look at the ChangeLog of app-emacs/org-mode, they do frequent releases, too, but only every now and then a version is stabilised.

Distribute only contains pure Python modules, so its installation is very fast. Distribute is important dependency of hundreds of Python packages and it's reasonable to stay close to upstream with the stable version.

ppc stable
Comment 6 Tobias Klausmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-11-08 16:42:02 UTC
Stable on alpha.

Tip for the other ATs: the test suite only works with a UTF8 locale.

1 test, which doesn't work with C locale, is now skipped when C locale is used.
