thanks for the report. it appears the build system cant agree with itself whether mod_rewrite should be build. it says, it wont build it at the top and then proceeds with building it further down.

if you enable the pcre USE flag it will build fine.
did 1.4.23 work for you?

In this place i only need a minimal lighty, no need for mod_rewrite or anything else. And 1.4.23 worked fine with the same config.

You need someone adding that diff as patch to 1.4.24?

it doesnt apply cleanly for me and i dont have time to fix this up this weekend - so go ahead if you want.

The only part that failed for me was the patch against NEWS file, i dropped that part. The rest applied cleanly, so i just committed it to main tree.
