when xlock is executed as a normal user, that user can not unlock the screen. The authentication fails. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install xlockmore 2. run xlock as user 3. try to unlock screen Expected Results: a user should be able to unlock a screen they locked. I was able to fix the problem by following the recommendations in the README file for 5.28 They recommend to set /usr/bin/xlock with these permissions. chmod 4755 /usr/bin/xlock Including this fix in a patch or future ebuilds should resolve the problem.
It should have done that all along with USE="-pam" but for some reason it didn't. Fixed now.
Make that: Fixed in 5.29.1.
