This might be an openssh bug --- but I can't confirm other than the openssh team
changed the way banner handling happens in sshconnect2.c

I asked on forums and at one other saw the same behavior, so I figured that
would constitute a bug.

Plus, it was not clear whether this is an "app" bug or a "server" bug --- or
something else. I'd classify it as a bug with the client (ssh) but its under
net-misc.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
install 3.7.1p1 from portage, add the banner specified in the forums post, and
ssh to the host with the banner. . .
Actual Results:
see forum posting.

Expected Results:
not truncated the banner.

this may be a bug in openssh --- but I don't have enough gentoo boxes to find
out (only have qty. 1) and the solaris boxes I have are looking fine for some
reason.

If its an openssh bug, do I need to report that, or do you guys elevate it up to
them? Let me know either way.

did you try 3.7.1p2 ?

Yes, I did. Same behavior. Were any of you able to confirm the bug? I've
only got one confirmation so far from the poster on forums.gento.org.

Thanks,
adam

There is a post to openssh-unix-dev, but I haven't seen any replies.
