I would like to pose a suggestion that /etc/init.d/squid "behaves" just like net.lo where by it looks at the script name to allow a user to run multiple squid's. I know that the squid devs are working on a multi-threaded squid and the likes, but I can see that multiple copies of squid is going to be quite popular. I see that /etc/init.d/squid is the master copy (using /etc/squid/squid.conf etc) but then, other copies are symlinked to /etc/init.d/squid e.g. /etc/init.d/squid_adsl1 and /etc/init.d/squid_adsl2 Using this, the init script will then load /etc/squid/squid_adsl1.conf and squid_adsl2.conf (it will be upto those configs to say where the cache dir is and the log files) I will be looking into this sometime today and will send my hacked version of /etc/init.d/squid - just thought I would get the ball rolling and maybe some comments from everyone Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. n/a 2. 3. Actual Results: n/a Expected Results: n/a n/a
Well, do you have a script proposal or not?
Created attachment 207947 [details] Proposed squid init script Seems to work ok for me, but I am no init script creator :)
Fixed in cvs w/o rev bumps.
Hi Alin, Thanks for this - I saw the new files in my sync today and I will test them out :) Cheers, Pieter
