Hello.

The latest vim-core in the tree does not support editing .lzma/.xz files. Patch follows, inspired from abailler ;)

Current ftp has the lzma portion of this patch. Bram at upstream vim seems like he won't accept the xz portion. Would be nice if Gentoo did support it though.
