Let's hope my optimization handling makes sense and it works as expected, it tries to be a balance between speed and quality. Also, there's now AMD64 opts available too :-) Current stable tries to install libtool files into live filesystem, and thus, file collides with libtool itself (Bug 276047) which is why I really opened this request. Please test and mark stable.

Stable for HPPA.
I was unable to compile media-sound/mpg123-1.8.1 successfully, it was complaining about missing libcucul.la, so I did: cd /usr/lib ln -s libcaca.la libcucul.la ln -s libcaca++.la libcucul++.la It seems libcucul is now combined in libcaca so it fixes the problem, don't know how it should be solved in this package though. I'm using media-libs/libcaca-0.99_beta16 here.
Stable on alpha.

Functionality from libcucul.so has been moved into licaca.so itself. Please remove all your libcucul.so* and libcucul.la files and emerge gentoolkit and run revdep-rebuild and manual emerges until it is solved. Symlinking IS NOT the solution and TOTALLY unrelated to this bug, so please refrain from future comments to avoid polluting this bug,
