The move of libpythonX.Y.a from /usr/lib/pythonX.Y/config to /usr/lib was first introduced in dev-lang/python-2.5.4-r3.

hum, did 0.96 pass its test-suite ? About test-suite failure, I also have bug #276892, but it looked less critical. That's the only issue I've seen but it might be that I only tested on amd64.
