you should set --disable-legacy-buttons to --enable-legacy-buttons like in other distros bracuse getting rid of hal is one of the GNOME 2.28/3.0 goals and for me --disable-legacy-buttons do not work. Either wit the newest Xorg from git. Reproducible: Always
Same problem here. Without a RDEPEND for >=x11-base/xorg-server-1.6* there should be --enable-legacy-buttons. Maybe a IUSE would do the trick.
