Using x11-wm/openbox-3.4.8_rc1 with gnome-session/2.26.1 fails to launch the GNOME/Openbox session (after selecting the session in GDM). The following error is given: /etc/X11/gdm/Xsession: Beginning session setup... /etc/X11/gdm/Xsession: Setup done, will execute: /usr/bin/ssh-agent -- /usr/bin/openbox-gnome-session ** (gnome-session:28100): WARNING **: Unknown option --choose-session=openbox-session Reproducible: Always
fedora has a patch for this in their SRPM.
Created attachment 200944 [details, diff] Patch allowing gnome-session/2.26.1 to launch the GNOME/Openbox session I have no way to test if it works with stable gnome, please give some feedback
Instead of: exec openbox-gnome-session I put this lines into my .xinitrc: exec openbox & exec gnome-session and it solved the problem
Thanks, i just tried the patch after updating my gnome-light components to 2.28 and it works for me.
Applied in openbox-3.4.8_rc1-r1
I've tried openbox-3.4.8_rc1-r1 with GNOME 2.26 stable and GNOME 2.28 via GDM and it doesn't work for me. openbox-session launches OK and doesn't throw up any errors, however after login and the desktop launches it is metacity running and not openbox.
This is changed in openbox 3.4.8, and this patch should *not* be applied. As stated it doesn't fix anything anyhow.
Bumped to 3.4.8. Please let us know if this fixes the issue.
Login works for me with gnome-session-2.26.2 and openbox 3.4.8.
Login works for me with gnome-session-2.28.0 and openbox-3.4.8
