When I emerge zsnes, I get this during the build:

init.asm:4617: error: symbol `.nextsearch' undefined
(null):1075130632: error: phase error detected at end of assembly.
make: *** [init.o] Error 1

I have GL installed--specifically, nvidia's GL drivers.  [Note: I've tried the
raw source tarballs from ZSNES' website, and it errors out at the same location
on those as well.]

Updating version of Gentoo to the version I'm really running.  Sorry about
that.

shoot, I forgot to search before posting about this, raziel and myself ran into
this bug, after discussing in #gentoo, I made a patch for zsnes that fixes this
silliness, and posted it as bug 2783
