Description Tom Prince 2009-06-05 03:05:28 UTC
The package doesn't run java-vm-2_pkg_postinst, so doesn't set itself as the default VM if there is not yet a default.

This breaks building of packages when it is pulled in as a dependency.
Comment 1 Serkan Kaba (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-05 10:34:38 UTC
This might be the reason of problems arising due to unset VM.
Comment 2 Vlastimil Babka (Caster) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-06 10:58:53 UTC
Building should work without a system VM, it's a bug if it doesn't.
Comment 3 Tom Prince 2009-06-07 17:25:06 UTC
It builds just fine without a system VM. It doesn't set it self as the system VM afterwards if there is not already one set, so that subsequent ebuilds that require a VM fail.
Comment 4 Vlastimil Babka (Caster) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-06-07 17:41:34 UTC
Yeah I meant building of subsequent packages, should still work... can you give a log of the fail?
Comment 5 Tom Prince 2009-06-08 01:58:48 UTC
I don't have the log for the failure, I started another run to try and duplicate it. I believe the package that failed was hsqldb.
Comment 6 Tom Prince 2009-06-08 02:00:17 UTC
Note: this occurred trying to build icedtea6 from scratch on a clean slate without gcj or any other java using icedtea6-bin.

Comment 8 Vlastimil Babka (Caster) (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-10-12 19:27:55 UTC
Setting as default VM fixed in icedtea6-bin-1.6.1. I could not reproduce the error when none is set, however. Maybe it got silently fixed in java-config. Closing then.
