Created attachment 194337 [details] version bump to ruby-oci8-1.0.6.ebuild Thanks for your report. Indeed, you do have to hack your instantclient-basic install to get oci8-1.0.3 to build. Instead of writing patches to make 1.0.3 to work, lets just bump this to 1.0.6, as it seems to handle the 11.1.0.7 instantclient install correctly. At least, it works great for me. Please try this ebuild and confirm. This ebuild has the fix from Bug 259469 and if a ruby herd person could commit it, we could close the other bug.
I've just committed ruby-oci8-1.0.6 to the tree.
