Description Mark Purtill 2009-05-26 02:31:59 UTC
Emerging dev-libs/libotf-0.9.6 fails with the message:

ERROR: unpack
Failed Running automake !

Include in your bugreport the contents of:

  /var/tmp/portage/dev-libs/libotf-0.9.6/temp/automake.out

ERROR: dev-libs/libotf-0.9.6 failed.
Call stack:
              ebuild.sh, line 48: Called src_unpack
            environment, line 2733: Called eautomake
environment, line 865: Called autotools_run_tool 'automake' '--add-missing' '--copy'
            environment, line 373: Called die
The specific snippet of code:
          die "Failed Running $1 !";
 The die message:
  Failed Running automake !

I will attach the automake.out and log file, but what seems to be happening is that the ebuild asks for the 'latest' automake, but it actually needs version 1.9 and the latest version is now 1.10. The end of automake.out is:

configure.ac:27: version mismatch. This is Automake 1.10.2,
configure.ac:27: but the definition used by this AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE
configure.ac:27: comes from Automake 1.9.6. You should recreate
configure.ac:27: aclocal.m4 with aclocal and run automake again.

Reproducible: Always

Could you try to emerge libotf-0.9.8?
if you have no issue with 0.9.8, it will be marked stable.
Comment 5 Mark Purtill 2009-05-27 04:57:28 UTC
dev-libs/libotf-0.9.8 appears to emerge fine. I think the only thing that uses it is uim, and I haven't noticed any problems with that with the new library.
Comment 6 MATSUU Takuto (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-27 16:41:16 UTC

Comment 7 Ferris McCormick (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-27 16:57:08 UTC
On sparc, this wants to install /usr/lib/libotf.[a,la], /usr/bin/otfdump. But files with these names already belong to sys-cluster/openmpi-1.3.2. So, I can't install this, and I'm pretty sure libotf's otfdump and openmpi's otfdump are not the same thing.
