This seems to be a problem only if tests are run with FEATURES=userpriv. Running emerge as root or outside portage causes all tests to succeed.

could you please try with media-gfx/imagemagick-6.5.1.0 and post the output of `emerge -pv imagemagick` please?
I've run the tests with FEATURES="userpriv" here w/o problems.

imagemagick-6.5.1.0 hasn't run tests and emerged (build log follows).
Here is output of emerge -pv imagemagick:

# emerge -pv imagemagick

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

you have to emerge imagemagick twice to run the tests (this means you have to re-emerge the imagemagick-6.5.1.0 version. (I should add an einfo to the ebuild...)

imagemagick-6.5.1.0 fails like 6.4.8.3. With FEATURES=-userpriv all tests succeed.
Comment 9 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2009-05-24 18:08:58 UTC
when USE="perl" is set, userpriv will be restricted - so the tests should run w/o problems.
thanks for the investigation on this!
