Assigning to maintainer.
Comment 2 Robert Buchholz (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-03 10:37:26 UTC
We had a similar discussion in bug 199958, where it was decided to enable --setuid-install. tools/setuid-root.pl.in then sets tshark to be suid. This seems contradictory to what the packing instructions (now) state.
Comment 3 Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-05-04 16:23:48 UTC
True, it was changed some time later:

http://anonsvn.wireshark.org/viewvc/trunk-1.0/Makefile.am?r1=23863&r2=23925

Since tshark still has all privileges drop code in place, this was fixed without version bump.
