Description matt 2009-04-21 07:38:00 UTC
I can't get awesome 3.2.1 to register my windows/super key. It works in 3.1. (Also worked in git .9999 ebuild, until git head changed enough that some deps are no longer in portage.... Hence me trying 3.2.1)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install awesome 3.2.1 and try to use the super modifier
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Nothing happens

Expected Results:
Modifier should work. Awesome is not awesome when it doesn't work

Oh, here's the only info I could find using search-fu:

According to awesome IRC channel topic "awesome 'Complicated' 3.2.1 released | awesome 3.2.1 does _not_ work with xcb-util 0.3.4, stay with 0.3.3 unless you use the git version of awesome".

I thought I tried the 3.2.1 / xcb-util-0.3.3 last night but (I guess not cause) today it's working.

So the dep for 3.2.1 should be
	=x11-libs/xcb-util-0.3.3
instead of
	>=x11-libs/xcb-util-0.3.3

Really, this is not a fix. The real fix will be to backport the appropriate bugfix from project git.

Instead you just required fixed version of a library, thus causing a lot of blocking with packages which use the latest version of xcb-util without problems. And now users must either mask >x11-libs/xcb-util-0.3.3 or fix this bug on their own. This is definitely a hack, but not a solution.

There's a new awesome release (3.3_rc1) which should fix this bug. See
