After installing pulseaudio-0.9.15 pavucontrol crashes on start. I am attaching the bug buddy report that was generated. Nothing shows on the command line. Reverting to 0.9.14 fixes the problem. Reproducible: Always

Did you try to recompile pavucontrol?
Yes, the first thing I did was reinstall pavucontrol and run reconcilio
Is pavucontrol 0.9.7 or 0.9.8 ? 0.9.8 release was tied with pulseaudio 0.9.15 release.
pavucontrol-0.9.7 I don't see 0.9.8 in the tree yet.

Well, it was not in the tree, when I emerged it.

The problem seems to be that pavucontrol-0.9.8 or 0.9.8-r1 is required but it fails to compile. It might be a good idea to mask pulseaudio-0.9.15 until all of its associated utilities are in the tree. On another note, pulseaudio-0.9.15 also set all audio channels to maximum volume after the first reboot, a potentially dangerous and certainly annoying practice. Does that need another bug report?

I just upgraded on my main box (~x86). pavucontrol 0.9.7 seems to work with pulseaudio-0.9.15 (at least until now ;-) ) I think pavucontrol-0.9.8 won't hit the tree until it's deps will hit (AFAIK gtkmm-2.16, as it uses gtk_scale_add_mark which got introduced in gtk+-2.16). hope the gnome/gtk team will push them to the tree soon as the ebuilds already exist in their overlay...
Well, I did have gtk+-2.16 from gnome overlay.

I think the cleanest is just adding pavucontrol 0.9.8 to portage, it is simple enough. All iu had to do is rename it and create the manifest, here is the ebuild: http://dev.9souldier.org/?p=overlay.git;a=blob_plain;f=media-sound/pavucontrol/pavucontrol-0.9.8.ebuild;hb=HEAD , it works fine for me and fixes the segfault with pulseaudio-0.9.15. Cheers
In portage.
