* Messages for package media-tv/xbmc-9999:

 * Visit http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=XBMC_Online_Manual
 *
 * QA Notice: Package has poor programming practices which may compile
 * but will almost certainly crash on 64bit architectures.
 *
 * Function `completion_matches' implicitly converted to pointer at /var/tmp/portage/media-tv/xbmc-9999/work/xbmc-9999/xbmc/lib/libPython/Python/Modules/readline.c:683
 *
 * Please file a bug about this at http://bugs.gentoo.org/
 * with the maintaining herd of the package.

So I listened and here I am. emerge --info is attached if I am missing anything please let me know.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Compile XBMC
Run xbmc
Actual Results:
lun0s@dm400 ~ $ xbmc
/usr/bin/xbmc: line 8:   461 Segmentation fault      /usr/share/xbmc/xbmc.bin "$@"

Expected Results:
Started up and let me use it as a media center

Sorry if this is the wrong section but 'this section!' seems like this box...

This is the error after compiling that bugs the merge out:

Function `completion_matches' implicitly converted to pointer at /var/tmp/portage/media-tv/xbmc-9999/work/xbmc-9999/xbmc/lib/libPython/Python/Modules/readline.c:683
Comment 6 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-03-26 23:52:40 UTC
ive fixed the readline detection in python so that warning/failure should go away

that doesnt mean xbmc will start working for you ... if it still crashes, you should build it with debugging symbols and run it through gdb and post your issue to the xbmc forum
