dumpcap of Wireshark freezes after a device is selected in the interfaces tab. When dumpcap is killed manually, Wireshark continues to work normally.

The behavior is the same as described in this bug report:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/debian/+source/wireshark/+bug/198884

although I'm not using gksu, but am a member of the wireshark group. Even the patch attached to the Launchpad bug works for me. ( http://launchpadlibrarian.net/16517417/wireshark_pipe.patch )

Please, try 1.0.6-r1 with patch applied. I hope your issue is fixed there (although as you see at upstream bug report some issues still exist). FIXED.

have there been new bugs due to the new patch? if not, it would be nice to get this stable as there seem to be others hitting this bug (including me).
