Comment 5 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-02-28 00:08:41 UTC
I don't think we should mark this version as stable. It behaves quite stable but removes lots of applets that are useful.

Adds:
+blkid
+makemime
+popmaildir
+reformime

Removes:
-dhcprelay
-dumpleases
-fakeidentd
-fbsplash
-fetchmail
-httpd
-parse
-tftpd
-udhcpd
-udpsvd
###

I would not remove udhcpcd or httpd, tftpd by default. I'll probably re-enable those in the next bump. For now I'm skipping marking it stable on x86,arm. I would of not marked it stable on amd64 but it's too late.

dont-suck

Patch to be used on next bump to return expected behavior.
Comment 7 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-02-28 00:18:42 UTC
i removed those on purpose. those servers make no sense in a recovery shell. that is what the default config targets.
Comment 8 solar (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-02-28 00:51:49 UTC
busybox is more than the rescue shell. If it was rescue only it would not be maintained under embedded. The options we had before made sense for both rescue and embedded environments.
Comment 9 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2009-02-28 03:20:47 UTC
those servers dont typically make sense on an embedded system either. while from time to time i do want a webserver on my embedded system (but i'd use boa), i've never wanted a dhcpc or tftp server.

if you want that stuff, we can always create an embedded USE flag and default it to on for embedded profiles.
Comment 10 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2009-03-08 21:22:03 UTC

Comment 11 Raúl Porcel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-03-14 16:23:49 UTC
