media-sound/pulseaudio should depend on bluez instead of bluez-libs, as it is NOT compatible with bluez3, and works only with bluez4. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

The configure checks for bluez-3.0 and it should work just fine, indeed I only have 3.x installed and it seems to build at least, although I admit it was a bit shaky last time I tried it.
I've just asked developer of pulseaudio and he confirmed that one. It only works (where it works) with bluez 4. So, here's part of our conversation if anyone might find it usefull.: <spitfire_> mezcalero: Is pulseaudio compatible with bluez4 only? <mezcalero> spitfire_: not even bluez4 really spitfire_: bt is still quite flaky <mezcalero> bluez4 has so many bugs i cannot reall make things fully yet <spitfire_> i mean bluez-4* ? mezcalero: but it doesn't work with bluez-libs-3* ? yes? <mezcalero> spitfire_: no, only bluez4 <spitfire_> mezcalero: cause gentoo guys have pulseaudio depending on bluez-libs <mezcalero> and not even that works that well <spitfire_> and I wanted to make sure <mezcalero> hmm, that meight be the proximity part actually i don't think we ever link against anything bluezish directly <mezcalero> interfacing is done exclusively via dbus
Any update on this one? Cheers, Rob

I would propose to just put in tree the updated ebuilds ... it is working it does not crash at all and that would save me the ebuilds editing part everytime I update emerge ... so pleeeease I pray you devs ... consider it (In reply to comment #6) > (In reply to comment #4) > > Any update on this one? > > > > Cheers, > > Rob > > > > Bug 263446 >
Hi there, pulseaudio just got bumped again, but this dep change doesn't seem to have made it in. Is there some problem we're waiting on that we should be trying to get fixed, or something blocking it going in, or was it just forgotten? What can we do to help get this sorted? 5:)
I would like to know about that too .... (In reply to comment #8) > Hi there, pulseaudio just got bumped again, but this dep change doesn't seem to > have made it in.
