build log.
Comment 2 Ken Rossato 2009-02-02 18:56:15 UTC
I am also experiencing this bug, with the same build error.
Comment 3 Ming T 2009-02-04 01:19:27 UTC
make that a 3rd! i'm experiencing the same problem. compiling kde-base/systemsettings-4.2.0, breaks at the same position as the posters.
Comment 4 Ming T 2009-02-04 18:29:55 UTC
i've discovered that upgrading gcc to 4.1.*, then recompiling libXi, fixed the undefined reference issue for me.

I'm running gcc-4.1.1-r3 and I still get this error

I updated to gcc-4.1.2 and it compiles now
Comment 7 Gordon Malm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-13 23:27:47 UTC
I've added a patch to kde-base/systemsettings-4.2.1-r1 in portage that when using gcc < 4.1.2 that strips keyboard hot-plugging support out of kxkb, allowing systemsettings-4.2.1-r1 to compile and function otherwise properly. I'll be testing systemsettings-4.2.2 soonish and add the patch there if necessary.

There is a related upstream bug and changeset here:

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=182955
http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/KDE/kdebase/workspace/kcontrol/kxkb/CMakeLists.txt?r1=948457&r2=948456&pathrev=948457

But I believe the problem to be incorrectly addressed upstream, as this package also fails to compile at the same place against inputproto-1.5.0 and libXi-1.2.0 with gcc 3.4.6.
Comment 8 Gordon Malm (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2009-04-14 16:00:07 UTC
Added the patch to kde-base/systemsettings-4.2.2 as well. Closing as fixed. However, a better patch that fixes the code rather than hacks out that problematic bit of code/functionality is always welcome - simply re-open the bug.
