Description Charles Green 2009-01-23 18:33:44 UTC
I am attempting to install dillo-2.0, for which I need fltk. I have included ~x86 keywords for both fltk and dillo, and included '-cairo' in package.use, in order to be able to emerge the latest versions.

However, the emerge fails at this point (I'll attach the (nearly) full ebuild trace later and/or if requested):

=== making OpenGL ===
Makefile:90: makedepend: No such file or directory
Compiling Fl_Gl_Choice.cxx...
Fl_Gl_Choice.cxx: In function '__GLXcontextRec* fltk::create_gl_context(XVisualInfo*)':
Fl_Gl_Choice.cxx:242: error: 'glXGetProcAddress' was not declared in this scope
make[1]: *** [Fl_Gl_Choice.o] Error 1
make: *** [all] Error 2

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Include the following in /etc/portage/package.keywords:
        www-client/dillo ~x86
        x11-libs/fltk ~x86
2.  Include 'x11-libs/fltk -cairo' in /etc/portage/package.use
3.  Include '>=x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-87.00' in /etc/portage/package.mask
4.  emerge nvidia-drivers
5.  emerge x11-libs/fltk
Actual Results:
fltk build fails, so can't emerge dillo-2.0

Expected Results:
Expected fltk to be built successfully (for use by dillo-2.0)

This may or may not be significant, as I was able to at least find mention of the 'not declared' label in dri_interface.h, glxext.h and glx_mangle.h:

I have an NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 200 in a Dell Dimension XPS T450. Per http://gentoo.org/doc/en/nvidia-guide.xml I have masked >=x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers-87.00 in /etc/portage/package.mask, and I have disabled 'dri' and enabled 'glx' per the 'Configuring the X Server' directions on that page.

Still seems true for fltk-2.0_pre6671.

Workaround appears to be
    eselect opengl list (note where the asterisk is, mine is on 'nvidia')
    eselect opengl set <whichever one says 'xorg-x11'>
    emerge x11-libs/fltk
    eselect opengl set <back to what it was before>

Some packages, perhaps x11-base/xorg-server and/or media-libs/mesa, appear to alter and restore 'opengl' setting automatically.

Works just fine for me

Created attachment 234327 [details, diff]
Patch to include --x-libraries.

Swithing to xorg-x11 is not optimal. The attached patch will pass the -L flag instead, like done in media-libs/gle.

Please try.
