Description Andrés Becerra Sandoval 2009-01-06 16:00:54 UTC
I have installed:
   x11-drivers/xf86-video-sis-0.10.0
   x11-base/xorg-server-1.5.2

Every time I log out from kdm (3.5.10, and 4.1.3) the X server crashes.

This is an excerpt of my /var/log/xdm.log output:

(EE) SIS(0): Unable to map IO aperture. Invalid argument (22)
(EE) SIS(0): **************************************************
(EE) SIS(0): ERROR:

(EE) SIS(0): END OF MESSAGE
(EE) SIS(0): **************************************************
(EE) SIS(0): **************************************************
(EE) SIS(0): ERROR:

(EE) SIS(0): END OF MESSAGE
(EE) SIS(0): **************************************************

Fatal server error:
AddScreen/ScreenInit failed for driver 0

xdm error (pid 2884): IO Error in XOpenDisplay
xdm error (pid 2791): Display :0 cannot be opened
_XSERVTransSocketOpenCOTSServer: Unable to open socket for inet6
_XSERVTransOpen: transport open failed for inet6/charm:0
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: failed to open listener for inet6

I configured my sistem with an alternative xorg.conf using x11-drivers/xf86-video-vesa, and is not crashing now. For this reason I have the feeling that the problem lies in x11-drivers/xf86-video-sis

Thanks

I found a related bug report submitted by a gentoo developer in freedesktop bugzilla:

Nothing to be done here, the bug should be fixed upstream. Please ping the maintainers.

Thanks
