Description:   Opened: 2003-07-27 04:36 0000
hdf5-1.6.0 is out.

diffs from 1.4.5 ebuild include:

SRC_URI="ftp://ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu/HDF/HDF5/current/src/${P}.tar.gz"
S=${WORKDIR}/${P}

also, there are some patches in:

ftp://ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu/HDF/HDF5/current/src/patches/

that are of interest, including at least one bug fix. (See the README
at ftp://ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu/HDF/HDF5/current/src/README for details.)

Hi James.

Thanks for the nitification!
I have updated and committed the ebuild. Please test.

Could you do some clarification on patches (since I presume you actually use the library ;)):
README says, that 3 first patches are "no longer necessary with 1.6.0". This leaves only two fortran patches for different architectures. I presume they provide some performance boots under certain circumstances, but there should be trade-offs (otherwise why these fortran routines are not in the default?). Could you please clarify this a bit?

George

as 1.6.0 is in portage and there are no news for month, might be time to
close this bug
