$subj, i'll attach the backtrace. with media-gfx/eog-2.22.3-r1 i can open a PNG file with XMP metadata(2.22.3 doesn't have XMP support), and it doesn't sigbus. with media-gfx/eog-2.24.2 if i open a PNG file with XMP metadata(with xmp USE-flag), it sigbuses. Same without xmp USE-flag. It doesn't sigbus with another kind of graphic file(JPG,GIF) with XMP metadata. It doesn't sigbus either with a normal PNG file. I think its related to eog itself, because nautilus can display the PNG file thumbnail with XMP support, and it can read its metadata without sigbusing. Created attachment 175195 [details] backtrace.log
Created attachment 175241 [details, diff] eog-sigbus.patch This patch fixes it. xmp_chunk is aligned by 4 so doing +18 doesn't work(+16 or +20 would work). But I'm woundering why they want to check if the string is terminated by 5 \0's. Usually one \0 is enought ;)
doh, bad memory manipulation, thanks for the patch, will include it asap.
commited, thanks for reporting and patching.
