Two days ago I emerged net-p2p/azureus-4.0.0.4 and it's dependencies. I got a lot of warning for each package emerged during different phases, like following : /usr/lib/portage/pym/portage_dep.py:39: DeprecationWarning: DEPRECATION NOTICE: The portage_dep module was replaced by portage.dep I have no /etc/portage/bashrc or /etc/portage/profile/profile.bashrc, and have just the gnome overlay defined with layman. I will attach relevant informations about my system, which is mostly stable, but with portage 2.1.6. I also noticed the package java-config:0 was updated 3 days ago : Tue Dec 9 18:40:06 2008 >>> dev-java/java-config-1.3.7-r1 merge time: 19 seconds. See also following forum thread : http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-717921.html Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge =azureus-4.0.0.4 Actual Results: Lot of deprecation warning during different phases, including when emerging dependencies.

updated summary : this was not 1.3.7 but 1.3.7-r1. Also : not sure that it is related with java-config, this is just an idea.
This only happens when mixing ~arch and arch but might as well mark java-config-2.1.6-r1 stable now.
