When compiling gedit-2.24.2 this warning occurs in configure step :

configure: WARNING: unrecognized options: --enable-debug

My USE flags are :
* app-editors/gedit [R 2.24.2] <target>
    debug -doc python spell xattr build_options: -optional_tests split strip

Reproducible: Always
