Description Nick Cunningham 2008-11-07 21:40:08 UTC
When installing swfdec with OSS v4 and the oss use flag set, configure dies with the error "configure: error: audio backend "oss" could not be used".

From a look at the swfdec mailing list it appears OSS support was dropped in the 0.7 release due to a lack of maintainer so simply removing the useflag should suffice (See mailinglist post linked above).
For OSS users the swfdec devs recommended route is to use pulseaudio so perhaps a note in the emerge output to go this route for OSS users would be helpful?

Remove OSS support from swfdec ebuild

In an effort to resolve this ive attached a patch that removes the OSS USE flag and comments out the relevant part of the ebuild explaining why its being removed aswell as adding an elog message to the end to inform the user.

CC'ed cardoe@g.o in an effort to get this trivial fix committed (cardoe recently bumped this package and has touched it previously).

Apologies if this was inappropriate, feel free to remove yourself :)

I've removed the oss flag and settings. No need to put in a note, because it fails to configure.
