This looks like the same issue as in bug 239116

While trying to mask any of the packages, emerge stops due to deps - i tried to mask r128, then ati - both gave the same result.

!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy ">=x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.9.0" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.10.0 (masked by: package.mask)
/etc/portage/package.mask:
#=x11-drivers/xf86-video-r128-6.8.0

- x11-drivers/xf86-video-ati-6.9.0 (masked by: package.mask)

For more information, see the MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge
man page or refer to the Gentoo Handbook.

All ebuilds in portage are now fixed (without a bump).

And for the record, once all ebuilds <=6.8.0-r1 are gone from portage, we can drop ${FILESDIR}/old_hw_data as well.

Thanks
